Essential Guide To A Good Work And Life Balance

Essential Guide To A Good Work And Life Balance-Chispa MagazineTwenty-first century life is offering us more and more opportunities for working in different ways. But, it is also encroaching on our personal lives. It’s entering our homes more and more. Email on the move, wireless and remote networking, and the humble cell phone have made it impossible to disconnect from work. Wherever we are, we are contactable, and we’re often expected to check in.

For homeworkers, the situation is even worse. There is no escape from your workplace if it is also your home. So how do you ensure there is still room and time for your life after work? It’s not easy, but it is still possible. There are several tricks you can try to help ensure you stay fit, healthy, and balanced.

Taking a walk twice a day is a great way to blow away the cobwebs and have some me time. Keeping your body moving and active is essential to good health. Getting away from the busy working environment for just fifteen minutes is a great way to take a well-earned break too. Try to be unavailable for those few short minutes too; this way you are just in your head space, and not putting out fires at work.

What you eat may be on your mind most meal times. But, where you eat can be just as important. If you can, eat outside in the fresh air. It is thought to promote relaxation and better digestion. Try to eat at a table rather than in your office or at your desk. Slow down. There is a lot of pressure to rush food. Instead, sit and savor each mouthful. You could even help prevent obesity and indigestion.

For a healthy relationship with your loved one, you need to leave work at work. Talking about it, or whining about it does your home relationship no good. We all need to vent, but regular rants aren’t pleasant for either of you. Try journaling to air your thoughts and feelings instead. Try not to bring any paperwork home with you. Your evenings are for you and your family. You could always head in thirty minutes early instead.

If you are required to check in with the office on off days or during your evenings, try to limit it. It can often cut into your home life. Why not hire a housekeeper or PA from the best domestic staffing agency in your area? This could buy you more time to do the things you enjoy. It can also help ensure that essential tasks like housework are done on time without adding pressure to your workload. If you have children, this could be what you need to ensure you have sufficient quality time with them.

Make time for you every day. You might treat yourself to a spa treatment or bubble bath. Or perhaps you’ll head out for a run? Don’t let work prevent you from enjoying yourself when you’re out of the office. You don’t want to start feeling resentful and having negative thoughts about your job. Instead, make a clean break each evening where you can be you and in the company of your loved ones without interruption.
