For some, the idea of sitting behind a desk for eight hours a day sounds like torture. If the traditional 9-5 isn’t working for you, don’t worry, there are plenty of alternatives out there. You just need to know where to look. That’s where we come in.

If that sounds like you, here are some career ideas that will suit your passion.
Environmentalist. Most outdoor adventure lovers have a soft spot for the environment. They feel connected to the planet, and have a deep respect for its mountains, rivers, and forests. That’s why a conservation or environmental job is often a perfect match. It will help satisfy your lust for travel and adventure. You’ll spend your time in hostile environments, fighting to preserve the great outdoors you love so much.
Ski Instructor. There are few things that get the adrenaline pumping like throwing yourself down a mountain. Skiing is the ultimate thrill adventure, with pristine white slopes, and stunning natural scenery. The mountains are a spiritual home for many adventurers, so why not spend all your time out there? You can complete a ski instructor course in as little as five weeks. You’ll be out on the slopes full-time, helping others discover a love for the white stuff.
Adventure Tour Guide. This is a little similar to the ski instructor idea, but you can apply to anywhere in the world. Every country has its own group of adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers. There are adventurers all across the planet looking for guidance and leadership. You can be that leader. You could lead an expedition up a mountain or through stunning gorges. Use your passion to help show others the world around you.
Marine Biologist. There is nowhere on earth quite as hostile and unexplored as the ocean. The deep blue sea is the most mysterious place on earth, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of our understanding. As a marine biologist, you’ll strap on your diving kit, and help map the strange world. You’ll get to explore the deepest corners of the earth, identify weird new species, and spend your days in the ocean.
Armed Forces. The armed forces thrive on action, adventure, and adrenaline. The entire job is about pushing yourself to the edge, and exploring the limits of human adventure. Not only will you spend your life training, you’ll be stationed in some of the most hostile environments in the world. This is an extreme form of adventure, but it’s worth including. A job in the armed forces is a fantastic way to see the world, and feed your passion for the outdoors.
