Engagement Essentials for Him: How To Prepare The Perfect Proposal

Engagement Essentials for Him-How To Prepare The Perfect Proposal-Chispa MagazineGetting engaged is one of the most exciting life events. If you’re madly in love and you’re sure she’s the one, you may be busily planning a proposal. But, where should you ask? Which ring should you buy? And, what should say? If you’re ready to ask that all-important question, here are some suggestions.

The proposal. Proposing can be a high-pressure situation, and you’re likely to feel nervous and excited all at the same time. If you want to propose to your partner, there are a few things to consider. Think about a location and the manner in which you want to ask the question. Would you rather go for a grand gesture, or something understated and modest? Do you have a specific place in mind, or are you a spontaneous type? If you’re struggling for inspiration, think about places, which mean something. Perhaps you could revisit the place you went on your first date, or plan a trip abroad to somewhere you’ve always talked about going together. Take your girl friend into consideration at every step of your thought process. If they are an introvert, and you know they feel uncomfortable in crowds, avoid popping the question at a major sports event, for example.

Once you’ve decided on a location, it’s time to plan what you’re going to say. If you’re not a great wordsmith, or you feel uncomfortable expressing your feelings, keep things short and sweet. You don’t need to write an essay. Equally, this is a special moment. So don’t undersell it. Be heartfelt and sincere.

The ring. It’s essential to get the ring right. You may already have a good idea of what your partner wants thanks to unsubtle hints or previous shopping trips. If you have no idea, it’s best to organize a visit to some jewelers and have a look around. Think about your partner’s sense of style and try and choose something they would go for. Diamonds are a popular choice, but that doesn’t mean that they’re perfect for everyone. If your partner has a strong sense of individuality, or they love vintage fashion, take this into account. Emeralds and sapphires are a fantastic choice for those who love traditional rings. Opal engagement rings offer something a little different and will stand out from the crowd. If you’re struggling, ask a close friend or sibling for advice.

The moment. You’ve planned your mini speech, you’ve decided upon a location, and you’ve got the ring. Everything is set. Wait for the perfect moment. Don’t rush and don’t panic if there doesn’t seem to be a right time. It will come, so be patient. Wait for a break in the music, or for crowds to dissipate. Go with your instinct and try and stay calm. Even the best rehearsed retort can get jumbled, so don’t worry if you stutter or you can’t get your words out. The most important thing is for you both to enjoy every second. The chances are that you’ll be so swept up in the emotion of it all, that you won’t even remember what you said.
