Considering A Garden Fence?

Considering A Garden Fence-Chispa MagazineThere are a lot of projects you’ll want to get around to doing in the garden this year. You could build a garden shed, or set up a log store. But, if you don’t already have one, a garden fence should be top of this list. Think about how much a fence is going to improve your garden and the look of your property. These are some factors to think about if you are considering putting up a garden fence.

Why Do You Want One?
The first thing you’ll have to consider is why you want a garden fence. This is probably pretty obvious to a lot of people, but it’s still worth thinking about. The most common reason is likely to be for security purposes. You don’t want just anyone wandering onto your property whenever they feel like it. A fence helps preserve some of your privacy as a family. It creates a border to your land that can’t be crossed easily.

Work Out How Much Wood You’ll Need
It’s important to make sure you measure up and figure out how much wood you’re going to need to put up your fence. The fence needs to be tall and long enough to cover the length of the garden. And you need to make sure it’s sturdy and strong as well. The best sort of wood to use for this is most likely to be timber. But, of course, you’re going to need to get your measurements spot on before you begin. And you need to make sure you have the space and won’t be interfering with the neighbours’ gardens.

Think About Other Materials
You’ll need the wood for assembling the fence, but you also need to think about other materials too. You might want to attach a trellis so you can grow plants up the fence. You’ll need to have tools such as saws, hammer, nails, and a spirit level. It might also be worth looking at getting glue dots, glue sticks and hot melt adhesives for gluing things. Consider the fact that you might want to paint the fence or use sealant once it’s been erected.

Pick the Right Time to Start
There are important things you’re going to need to know before you start building your fence. A combination of factors that will come into play here, and that will affect your project. First of all, you need to make sure you have the time to start and complete the project. It might take a few days to do so you need to make sure you have time set aside. The weather is also going to be another consideration for you to take into account. Plan it perfectly so that you have a few days free with good weather to get this done.

People put garden fences up for all sorts of reasons, and it’s probably good for security and privacy. You can have this as a project for when the weather is good. Of course, you could always buy an already assembled fence, but where’s the fun in that? Building your own garden fence is a rite of passage, and one you’re now fully prepared to handle.
