Top Tips for More Productive Staff

Top Tips for More Productive Staff-Chispa MagazineIf you want to make sure your staff are as productive as possible, there are a few steps you can take. Of course, hiring your staff carefully is the first step to take. You need to make sure they are suitable and have the same vision for your business as you do. When you’ve done that, you can focus on creating a productive office for them to work in. Use these tips and see how they may work for you:

Focus on Training and Team Building
By training your staff and encouraging team building exercises, you’re investing in them; not only with money, but time too. You’re showing them that you care about their development, and you’re going to do what you can to help them progress in their career. They’re bound to be more productive when they are regularly learning new skills and finding ways to work well together.

Open Blinds and Windows
This is a really simple task, but it’s been proven to make staff more productive by waking them up. Natural light is so much better for productivity than artificial light, so make sure you open those blinds. Let as much natural light in as you possibly can. You can also crack a window to let some fresh air in. It’ll get some oxygen to the brain and wake them up. You can even add a plant or two to brighten the environment.

Encourage Time Away from the Computer
If your staff sit at a computer all day long, they’re not going to be very productive. They might get a migraine, their eyes might start to hurt, and they’ll gradually slow down until their work output isn’t very high at all. Encourage time away from the computer by making them go somewhere else for lunch.

Give Them Good Facilities
Having good facilities in the office will ensure they have everything they need. Usually, tea, coffee, water, and food making facilities are enough. You can look at water cooler rental and similar options to help. However, you may want to go one step further than this: you could introduce a game room for your staff, so they can have a nice break and a way to de-stress!

Create a Nice Work Environment
Your staff aren’t going to be very productive if your work environment is cold or hostile. Everybody should get along and feel happy to be at work. You can make sure the environment is good by being a good boss, encouraging a good culture at work, and making sure there are no problems.

Give Rewards for Hard Work
Giving rewards for hard work shows your staff that you take notice of them. It shows that you appreciate what they do for you. They’ll be more likely to continue it this way.

Praise Hard Work
Finally, you don’t even need to reward hard work, you can just praise it. Make it known that you’re happy with a certain individual, or the team as a whole if that’s the case. Be consistent in your efforts and you should find the office’s productivity shoots through the roof.
