The All You Need To Know Guide For Moving Offices

The All You Need To Know Guide For Moving Offices-Chispa MagazineMoving offices can be just as stressful as moving house. But, for whatever reason, moving is sometimes a necessity. Perhaps your business’ financial situation has changed and you need a cheaper facility. Or, maybe you are looking to cut back on rent costs so you can spend more on marketing. You might even be expanding and just moving some of your employees to another location. Either way, there is a lot to take into consideration and often very little time to do it. But, this guide should help you out a lot.

Hire Professionals
Do not organize the office move yourself… even if you are a small business. There is just too much to get packed up and relocated and too many things that can go wrong. Also, while it is tempting to save on costs by using your employees as movers, it is not advised. Think about it this way. Your business probably involves very little manual labor. That means your employees will not have been trained in lifting heavy objects. While it may seem simple to lift something the right way, a lot can go wrong. If it does, you will be looking at a rather large personal injury lawsuit from your employees. It is best not to risk it.

Clean Up Crew
If you are moving out of a rented property you have to make sure it is in the same condition it was when you moved in. Otherwise you can be charged by your landlord for property damage or cleaning bills. If you have a big company with a big office, this can end up costing you a fortune. It is better to think ahead and hire a vacate cleaning company. This way your landlord will not be able to say that you have left the office in a state of disrepair.

You may also want to consider cleaning the new office before you move in. If you bought it at a low price, it is possible that it needs a little bit of a clean up.

Fresh Start?
If you are expanding, you will of course need to buy some furniture for your new offices. That typically means desks, comfy chairs, and office supplies. You may also have to purchase some tech items, such as computers, printers, and perhaps a scanner. You might be getting rid of some outdated tech as well; take the opportunity to improve your office environment during the move. If that is that case, you have to be careful about disposing of the old material. You may be able to take furniture down to the dumpster or sell it second hand. But, getting rid of old computers is a little more complex. Particularly, if your old hard drives contain sensitive data. You should get in contact with a data shredding company to ensure they are completely eradicated.

Setup Before You Go
Although this may seem unnecessarily complex, you should be attempting to set up your new office before you move out of the old one. That means organizing internet installation and make sure that you have a network. Otherwise, you could lose days or even weeks of profit.

Next time you are facing an office move, use this guide… these ideas and tips will allow your plans to go smoothly without any issues.
