Hit The Road, Where to Stop Off on Your Route 66 Road Trip-Chispa MagazineThe Rocky Mountain road trip starts in Northern Colorado and winds all the way down to the coast. Ready to find out which places you should visit and the things you should do along the way?

Start at Denver
The start of your trip should be in Denver. This is where many road trips start, and you will find lots of places that sell all the things you need for you and your car while on the long stretch. So, if there is any last minute preparation you need to do, do it here. This is in the north of Colorado, and it’s the state’s major city and capital. We will get onto what you should do when you head south and west in Colorado later. But, there is plenty of things to do in Denver. There are museums, theme parks, big sporting events, and unique shops.

Colorado
You will find the Rocky Mountain National Park near the start of your journey in Colorado, where there is lots to explore. There is nothing like driving on the open road surrounded by the stunning Rocky Mountains on both sides. You can also enjoy some adventures in the natural surroundings such as rafting in Colorado, which is a very popular activity that you should try.

Grand Canyon National Park
There are few places in the world more breathtaking and stunning than the Grand Canyon. It’s one of those places that you simply have to stop off at when you are taking this kind of road trip. The Grand Canyon National Park offers plenty of things for you to do. It’s not all about staring at the Canyon in marvel. For example, there are lots of hiking and climbing opportunities in the park. You can even ride the Grand Canyon Railway. But, for many people, the beauty of the location is enough.

Mojave National Preserve
If you take this road trip, there are lots of choices and detours that you can take. You could head up to Las Vegas before you get to the west coast, or even pass through Arizona. But, visiting the Mojave National Preserve while you head west is a must. It has a beautiful landscape; one of the very best in the west of the country. It’s the third largest national park in America with wonderful mountain ranges; you can even see Joshua trees.

Finish in California
The end of your road trip comes when you run out of road drive on, and the Pacific Ocean starts. You can choose whereabouts in California you want to end the journey, but a popular choice is the Santa Monica Pier. It’s a great little attraction and there is plenty of fun to be had there. Alternatively, you could head straight to Los Angeles. It’s one of the country’s greatest cities, and there is plenty for you to explore. Some people also choose to finish up in San Francisco. The choice is yours! And then, you can think about planning the return journey.
