Tips for an Organized Bedroom

The Six Items Every Bedroom Needs-Chispa MagazineI love things to be organized and in order. I love it, but it doesn’t mean that it always happens. One room that I like to have a haven, though, is my bedroom. At the end of a long day, if I can go to my room and it’s calm, tidy, organized and clean, it settles me and helps me to sleep. I can’t be the only one that feels like this right?

How about we try the following to help get you into a calm, organized state of mind?

Make Your Bed Every Day
There is nothing worse than getting into bed when it is unmade. Am I right? When you walk in your room and the bed is made… it is the best. If the pillows are fluffed and cushions are on the bed rather than the floor, it is much more relaxing. It is a bit of a cheat too; it can make a room look much tidier if the bed is made. Let’s face it, the bed is the focal point of a bedroom and takes up the most space. If that is messy, the rest of the room looks messy.

Accessorize with Pretty Things
Accessories are great for making your bedroom look pretty. They can organize the space too. If you are blessed to have a dresser, you could keep it looking neat with Koch candle holders. It would look also look pretty if the candles are lit. You could also use little trinket boxes for jewelry too. It will organize the space and make things look neat and tidy. Making sure the little accessories that you use for storage look cute, will make a visual difference to the room.

Use your imagination with accessories too. Something like a cake stand can look inviting on a dressing table. It would be perfect for jewelry or makeup and can add a quirky or vintage look.

Use All The Storage Space That You Have
This depends on the size of your bedroom. If you are short of space, though, use all storage that is available. Under the bed storage, top of the wardrobe storage…. Maximize it all. Along with the tip above, if you use boxes that match the rest of the room for the storage, it will help our purpose, too.

Use Shelving
If you have a lot of photographs, I think using shelves looks great in a bedroom. Particularly the ‘floating’ style shelves. If it eliminates taking up space on top of drawers or dressing tables, then it will make the room much neater and more organized. Visually, if there is a lot of stuff in a small space, it just looks messy. Individual shelving like this can also look better than something like a bookcase [as no floor space is taken up]. The fewer number of large furniture pieces that you have in a bedroom, the better.
