Little Differences To Make Your Bedroom Sleep-Friendly

Little Differences To Make Your Bedroom Sleep-Friendly-Chispa Magazine - Home PageHere at Chispa Magazine, we take sleeping seriously. In fact, if we don’t get our eight hours every night, we are more irritable than a bear with a sore head!  We have too many years of experience not to know just how important sleep can be to the average human being. And, because we are nice people, we are willing to share our nuggets of sleep based knowledge with you, the reader. So, sit back and relax, and take note of the small details that will turn your bedroom into a sleep-friendly zone.

Buy A New Bed Frame
We know that homeowners who have a problem with sleeping will blame their mattress. Well, a bad worker does blame their tools! But, with all our years of experience in bedroom related matters, we know that the problem lies with the bed frame. The wrong bed frame will not support the springs of the mattress properly, which in turn won’t support your body weight. The result? A severe lack of comfort of course. If you want to mix style with substance, you can check out storage bed frames by Brosa. They combine comfort with functionality.

Buy A New Mattress
Okay, you might be right, and it might be your mattress that is the problem. Apart from springs sticking out of your mattress, the main issue is the level of comfort. See, when most people think comfort, they think soft and cuddly. However, where beds are concerned, softer is not usually better. Firm mattresses tend to be the best option because they hold your body weight much better. They are also a good option if you have chronic back issues.

Change The Sheets
Of course, crisp, fresh sheets are much more comfortable than dirty ones. But, we are not just talking about your laundry load here. No, we are talking about changing the sheets entirely. With the winter on the way, you need your sheets to keep you warm and toasty. So, those thin cotton numbers that you used throughout the summer won’t do the trick. You need something more substantial so you don’t freeze to death in the night.

Sleep In… The Nude
Perhaps it is time to go commando. Research suggests that it is easier to regulate your comfort with sheets and blankets than it is layers of clothing. So, whether you are too hot or too cold, they say it’s better to tuck yourself in, than put on your PJs. Hmm…

Chill Out
Has anyone ever told you about the effects of stress? For the most part, people see stress as something that makes them tense. It boils their blood and increases their blood pressure. But, it also affects your ability to rest effectively. When you are tense and stressed out, your body finds it harder to shut down. So, you need a place to relax and take off the edge. The bedroom can be that place as long as you decorate accordingly. The lighting and the color scheme will lure you into a deep sleep as if the Pied Piper himself was in the room playing the flute.

Switch Blinds To Curtains
Staying on the topic of light, you want to keep the light out at certain times of the day. And by certain times of the day, we mean night! When the light gets into the room, it tricks your body into thinking that it is time to wake. So, when the sun rises early in the morning, it will wake you, too. Curtains and their thick fabric block the majority of the light outside and stop it from entering the bedroom.

Technology
We don’t want to sound like OAPs, but technology is getting out of hand at the moment, isn’t it? If you can’t sleep, the answer is yes. The amount electronics you have in your bedroom has a direct link to your sleep patterns. The pulses from things such as TVs and laptops interfere with your body’s systems and prevent you from sleeping. The best option is to turn every device off in the room and don’t use devices half an hours before going to bed.

Put Your Needs First
Don’t let your partner or the dog keep you awake because they snore, or they fidget in their sleep. Be firm but fair and tell them they have to change or else! After all, sometimes you have to look out for number one.

Bedrooms are there for one reason – to sleep. When they don’t perform their primary role, it is time to make a change.
