If you are thinking about having guests around this summer, you will want to make sure they enjoy their stay. There are many different ways to do this but a good place to begin is designing the room they will be staying in. It will not take too much effort and when you are finished you will have a room you can be proud of.
A Good Clean
Once you have chosen your room we suggest giving it a thorough clean. You should get the vacuum and polish; getting rid of all the dust. This may be quite a job if you are using a spare room you hardly ever enter but it is better to get this job out the way first. You may be buying completely new furniture that will not need cleaning but will be put on top of carpet that has not been vacuumed.
The Right Bed
Your first decision is choosing a bed and you may already have one. But you might want to think about switching it for another type. For instance you could have a single, king, or queen sized bed. Obviously, if your room is small you may want to opt for a single but you could make a bigger bed work. It will make the room look cozy not cramped, if you style the rest of the space correctly. You may also want to think about buying a new queen mattress if your old one is looking lumpy and feeling firm. Once you have sorted the bed you can dress it up a little. Add some luxury seats or consider buying a throw and make your room look more stylish.
Choose A Style
You may want to think about choosing a certain style for your room and buy furniture to match. An example of this is a more modern bedroom or traditional. You can go Japanese with a minimalist feel or you can buy Victorian furniture and add some wonderful antiques to match. Both are brilliant choices if you want to create a certain setting for your guests while they are staying in your home. Using antique furniture is also still seen as very fashionable and stylish.
A Little Light
Your guests will expect to be able to do certain things in their bedroom, like reading at night. This means that reading lights or lamps are a must. You can have them sitting on chests of drawers at each side of the bed or fixed to the wall above the head; this will largely relate to the type of room style you are trying to create. Overhead lights are more modern and practical but some people like the coziness of a lamp by their side.
Homely Touches
Finally, you can finish off your guest room with a few homely touches. Add some ornaments to the windowsill to give the room some character and maybe lay a nice, soft rug on the floor. You may want to put some guest towels on the back of the door and some pictures frames on the walls. All these little details will make your guests stay that much more comfortable and feel closer to their own home.
