Awesome DIY Tips To Help You Build A Rock Climbing Wall At Home

Rock Climbing_Chispa MagazineDo you want to turn your home into an epic place that’s full of fun and excitement? Well, now you can, by building a rock climbing wall! It’s surprisingly easy to do, and here are the steps you should follow:

Choose A Location. The first step is to pick a location in your home for this climbing wall to be constructed. Obviously, this decision is entirely up to you as everyone is different and has a different home. However, some suggestions include a garage or the back yard. Garages are probably the best place for an indoor home climbing wall as they tend to be spacious. So, this is a great location if you aren’t really using your garage for anything. Of course, your backyard is incredibly spacious, and there’s no real limit to how big you make your climbing wall when it’s outdoors. Choose a location, and you can progress to step two.

Create Some Designs. Step two involves coming up with some designs for your home climbing wall. You can sketch these, and you’ll probably come up with a fair few. Experiment with different designs until you land on one you like the most. Remember, the location plays a role in the design, ensure your designs fit the desired location. So, you can’t have it too big if your garage is small, etc.

Build The Wall. After you’ve come up with your dream design, it’s time to crack on and build the wall itself. Depending on the complexity of your design, this can take a while. Ideally, you can build everything yourself, you just need the proper materials. Some people use plywood to bring their designs to life as it’s the easiest and cheapest material to use while still being strong. You’ll need screws, nails, and the relevant tools too. Then, you follow your designs and start building it from the ground up. If you find that your design is too big, and you can’t install it on your own, then don’t worry. There are places like Climbing Solutions that deal with larger installations if you’re considering something truly epic. At the end of the day, just make sure the wall is built before moving on to the final step.

Make It Climbable. The final step is turning your wall into a proper climbing wall. To do this, you’ll need to get your hands on various holds that need to be screwed into the face of the wall. This is where your hands and feel will go when you’re looking for support as you climb. Once you’ve done this, test your wall by climbing it yourself. Make sure you test every hold to ensure the wall is climbable. If the tests go well and you’re certain this wall is safe and ready to climb, then it’s job done.

Congratulations, you’re almost there… It’s such a fun and productive thing to have, and you will spend hours enjoying it and can get your friends over to have fun too.
