Tips to Give Your Winter Outfits Extra Oomph

Tips to Give Your Winter Outfits Extra Oomph-Chispa MagazineAre you sick and tired of wearing boring winter outfits? Wish you could add a little interest to your outfits this year? You’re in the right place! We’ve put together some tips that are bound to give your outfits some extra oomph.

Add as Much Texture as Possible
The more texture you add to your outfit, the more interest you add. Outfits that have a lot of texture instantly look more put together and professional. If you wear outfits that are full of the same textures, you run the risk of looking boring and swathed in fabric. You can wear as many different textures as you like to add interest.

Practice Your Layering Skills
Layering is a skill that everybody can learn. Just because you’re not sure how to layer now, doesn’t mean you can’t get used to it. All it takes is a little practice and you’ll get there. When you layer in winter, your outfits look more textured and you can make sure you stay the perfect temperature. Add or take away layers as you please.

Experiment With Patterns
Winter fashion doesn’t have to be boring. Experiment with your patterns to make everything look so much more fun. You can mix your patterns up if you’re brave enough, or you can wear patterns from the same pattern family and see if you prefer that.

Don’t Be Afraid of Color
Adding a pop of color during winter can be a great idea. It’s a lovely way to brighten up a dull day. Try wearing a dark colored or neutral outfit and then wearing a bright coat, or even just wearing a bright bag if you don’t know if you’ll like it.

Color Block With Neutrals
Color blocking with neutrals is a trick that personal stylists have been using for years. It looks professional and put together and is a great look for work, shopping, or just about anywhere else you can think of. I like using this tip with something from Aran Sweaters Direct to keep me warm and on point. Use shades of cream, white grey, and similar colors to create your look. Think modern and clean.

Keep Dark Colors on the Outside
If you are going to wear dark colors during winter, it’s better if you keep them on the outside. Wearing light colours on the inside and darker on the outside helps your outfits to look cleaner and more put together. Gok Wan loves this tip!

Wear Faux Leather
Faux leather always adds a cool feel to winter outfits. If you want your outfit to look a little chic, choose leather clothing or clothes with leather elements. If you don’t want to wear a full on leather jacket, you can find warm jackets with only leather sleeves.

Have fun with these tips when you next get dressed for a cold day and you’ll love the way your outfit looks. Here at Chispa we usually get lots of compliments when we bear these tips in mind.
