Cheers to the Devotion of Love and the Words that Detail its Depth
Intrigued by the Coming Up For Air cover, Chispa Magazine set to find D. Sean and uncover this mysterious yet comical author who loves love and the Lord. Who is this person? What sets them apart? What invites us in and keeps us netted into the world of D. Sean?
Q: Who is D. Sean?
A: I am an author, artist, and closet poet who has always been addicted to the written word. So much so; in fact, I still hand write my to-do lists. I also write my books on paper in long hand before typing them up. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie who loves adventure, extreme sports, and traveling.
Q: How do you dream at night? Are your dreams the foundation to your books?
A: Vividly! I often dream a scene before writing it down or even knowing where it belongs. The characters reveal themselves to me in visions. They come almost “pre-loaded” with personality, unique traits, and defined voices. So, yes, I suppose my dreams are the foundation of my books.
Coming Up For Air came almost entirely as a dream. I woke up to these people I didn’t know and had never seen before.
Q: Why romance novels?
A: Why romance? Because I’m in love with love. I love love, in all it’s facets, states of being, dimensions, and pangs. I love the fantasy, the way it grows in, up and out. I love the reality of love and how it relates to the dream of love. To have the honor of writing about something I’m ardent about is something I’d never dreamt but am grateful to be able to do.
Q: How do your books differentiate from Lifetime Movie Network?
A: Let me start by saying: I LOVE the Lifetime Movie Network! The romantic movie marathons are my favorite. That said, the defining line between a
D. Sean romance and Lifetime romance is quite fuzzy, though it does exist. My books differ by character. I feel my characters are composites of real-life people. People I know, people you know, people your friends know. It comes down to relatable factors and having my readers find something however small or large that factor may be.
