Stuck In A Rut? Sometimes Change Is What You Need

Eight Tips to Channel Your Adult ADHD-Chispa MagazineSome of us feel uncomfortable when things change. Others thrive on an ever-changing daily routine. Whatever your personality type, there’s no doubt that change can be positive. Sometimes, if you’re stuck in a rut, it may be just the tonic. Are you uninspired by daily life? Do you feel like other people are leaving you behind, or life’s passing by in a flash? If so, here are some shake-ups that could give you a new lease of life.

Changing your job. Are you guilty of clock watching? Do you struggle with Sunday night blues every week without fail? Is work just a means of putting food on the table? If you’re bored of your job, you don’t feel valued, or you have dreams of doing something else, why not make a change? It’s never too late to try and make your career dreams come true. You might have to take risks along the way, but that’s all part of the adventure. Keep your ear to the ground to hear about opportunities and openings. Do some research online to find out vacancy news, and upload your CV to recruitment sites. You don’t have to pack it all in and risk your financial future. You can continue working while you look for a more exciting and fulfilling prospect.

Traveling the world and working abroad. There are few things in life that make you more appreciative than traveling. Every day is different, and you get the chance to learn new things, meet people and enjoy unique experiences. What’s the point in spending your days drooling over Instagram images or wishing you were somewhere else? The world is your oyster, and it’s up to you to take the initiative and explore it. If you can’t afford to take time out, consider moving abroad and getting a new job or working while you travel.

Getting in shape and looking after yourself. Is confidence a problem for you? Do you struggle with low self-esteem? Have you been setting a goal weight as your New Year’s resolution for as long as you can remember? There are lots of causes of low confidence. Many of us experience a direct link between our image and our confidence levels. If you want to lose weight, for example, make now the time you take those steps. What are you waiting for? You’ll need willpower and patience, but you’ll notice differences straight away. Ignore the millions of fad diets out there. They may make you drop a stone in a month, but this is not good for you. Look after your body. It isn’t something you should ever take for granted. Stick to a healthy, balanced, calorie-controlled diet and exercise regularly. If you need that kickstart to get you going, consider booking some personal training sessions. As you get fitter and stronger, your confidence will grow, and you may find that you love working out. Exercise gives you a natural high, which can become addictive.

All of us have days when we feel indifferent. If you’ve had more than a few of these of late, it may be time to shake things up and embrace change. Change your environment, and make alterations to your day to day life.
