As a student, there are times when you start to think about the career path in front of you. Whether you’re about to start applying for places at university, or even about to graduate, it’s something that you can’t help from time to time.
Not everyone has had their career path mapped out for them from a young age. It’s not always that easy to know exactly what it is you want to do. But, if you’re unsure of where to start, here are five favorable career paths and why you might consider choosing them.
Journalist
As traditional careers go, training to be a journalist has always been a respectable option. Some students have longed to be a journalist for years and others that find themselves drawn to the career. If you love to write, are inquisitive or have a passion for a set subject, it might be the job that will suit you the most. You might find that internships are a good way to test to waters, just to make sure you enjoy it, as well as gain valuable experience.
Teacher
Do you have an absolute passion for your university subject? Maybe you’re studying history and couldn’t imagine doing anything else? Or you’d love to spread your love of art? A career as a teacher could be just what you need. There is a broad range of options to choose from in the job too. You might want to teach primary age children, or focus on your given subject and teach your specialist area at secondary or university levels. The satisfaction is also a huge selling point.
Nurse
Regarding rewarding careers, aside from teaching, nursing stands out as the top of them all. If you’ve got a kind, caring, and patience nature, becoming staff nurses could be the right career for you. Not only do you get to work with people, but you can make a difference in their health or comfort levels. Just like teaching, there are a lot of specialisms in nursing too, so you just need to figure out the area that feels right for you.
Marketer
A popular career for graduates often comes under marketing. As there are so many fields and industries that market their products are services, it’s a varied career path to get into. It also holds a lot of prospects, both within one field and by spanning multiple. If you like the idea of being creative, communicating with customers and creating campaigns, then a career in marketing, regardless of the sector you choose, might be a strong choice for you.
Entrepreneur
And finally, you might not know what it is you want to do or the industry you want to work in, but you might know that business is your passion. If you want to create something, build a brand or try your hand at success in business, a career as an entrepreneur might be calling your name. You might invent a new product, design a service or create a consultancy; whatever it is, the flexibility of being your own boss is always a selling feature.
