Four Of The Most Common New Year’s Resolutions, Resolved

Four Of The Most Common New Year's Resolutions, Resolved-Chispa MagazineWe’re in the second week of January and there’s been more than enough time for you to make a couple of New Year resolutions. Then again, there’s also been time for you to break them! Let’s face it, New Year resolutions are more destined to fail than anyone likes to admit. Surely some of the ones you tried this year, you also tried years before. With that in mind here are some of the more common New Year’s resolutions that always crop up, why people never stick to them, and how you can edit them for success.

No More Alcohol In 2016
How many people woke up on New Year’s Day and thought that’s it, no more alcohol? We imagine, due to massive hangovers quite a few. But, will they get through the whole year? Probably not and the reason for this is that the world is rather stressful. Most of us look forward to Friday after work when we can head down to the pub for a beer, or curl up on the sofa binge watching PLL with a glass of wine. That doesn’t make us alcoholics; it just makes us human. Of course, the irony is that alcohol is a depressant, and it’s probably doing more harm to our mood than good. Perhaps you can make the choice of running toward something more uplifting than toward a downer? Hmm… how about good conversations with loyal, heart-filled friends? Or perhaps begin the task of writing down your emotions? You never know, it could be the next best-seller?

No More Fatty Foods Till Next Christmas
We can see why this one seems to make sense. Christmas is only a couple of weeks behind us, and we spent an entire month gorging our bodies on chocolate and puddings. Not to mention the massive roast dinners we all ate on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Enough is enough; we shout adamantly at the sky. But, we forget something rather important. Chocolate contains the chemicals that give the same feeling you get when you’re in love. So essentially, you are giving up something that your body literally loves. That’s never going to go well is it? How about portion control as a resolution?

My Last Cigarette Ever
We know exactly why this resolution fails. If you try and quit smoking based on a New Year’s resolution you’ve already failed. The reason for this is that to quit smoking you need to be in the right place. Going back to work after a few days off for holiday isn’t the right place at all. It’s as close to the wrong one as you’re going to get. Just think how stressed you were on the first day back at work and you’ll see we’re right. As well as this, most quitters try to go cold turkey, and that’s a mistake. The best way is to switch to vaping using techniques like the Kanger KBOX 200W to control how you smoke and how much you smoke. And most important: you need a support group to help get past additive behavior.

No More Binge Watching TV Shows
Lastly, if you made this resolution we believe it needs to be altered. More TV producers than ever are switching to the Netflix model. All the episodes are released at once, and it’s up to the audience how they watch it. But, let’s face it, many are taking sick days to binge Orange Is The New Black when it returns. How about starting something new: a book club with your most-loved friends? Keep yourselves accountable and then celebrate with a dinner to discuss its ending. Now that sounds a little more fun and purposeful!
