How to Survive Your Engagement: The Rules of Wedding Planning

How to Survive Your Engagement-The Rules of Wedding Planning-Chispa MagazineAfter the excitement of being engaged dies down, it’s time to get down to business and plan all of the details of your big day. Many couples find wedding planning to be a really stressful process because there are so many things to consider, from who you’ll invite, to what flowers you’ll purchase, and where the event will be held.

To survive your engagement with grace, it helps if you understand the rules of wedding planning better, so continue reading to learn more.

Take Your Time
Most couples don’t really need to rush into getting married 6-18 months after they become engaged. Oftentimes, this can be too stressful, so it’s actually better to take your time and really enjoy your time as an engaged couple. Take trips, do new things together, and simply enjoy this new relationship status without immediately rushing into the stress of planning your wedding.

Figure Out Your Wedding Budget
One of the first things that you need to do when you begin planning your wedding is determining your budget. Will your parents be contributing any money to your big day or will you need to come up with all of the money on your own? Weddings can be very expensive, so you may need to get some price quotes from vendors and venues in order to determine how much money you’ll need to make your dream day a reality. You may find, for example, that you need to extend your engagement in order to save enough money, or you can take your time searching on sites like www.ukweddingsavings.co.uk to find great deals and cut costs.

Make Decisions as a Couple
There are going to be quite a few people who want to have a say in your wedding, from your parents to your siblings, but avoid allowing them to have so much control. In the end, every decision should be one that reflects who you are as a couple. So while it’s perfectly fine to take suggestions, don’t give in to ideas you don’t like. Instead, it’s better to assess your options and come to a decision before you tell everyone what you have decided to do. In this way, the decision will have already been made and people can’t get involved and change things.

Consider Hiring a Wedding Planner
If you and your fiancé are too busy to do all of the research for your wedding on your own, consider hiring a wedding planner. A qualified and experienced planner will know how to work within your budget to get you everything that you want for your wedding, from the most beautiful décor, to the talented DJ or band for your reception. And all you’ll have to do is give your directions and expectations and sit back and let someone else do the hard work of making those dreams a reality.

Again, it’s important to take the time to really enjoy your engagement, so don’t make it all about planning your wedding. But, once you do begin planning, don’t sweat the small stuff and try to have as much fun as possible.
