I believe that walking through life presents itself with obstacles—some “happen” to us and other obstacles we set up (unknowingly) for ourselves. And when we receive the “grace of God” to forgive ourselves for being less than perfect, our faith begins a journey of its own.
Our faith must grow spiritually and develop just as we as transform from infancy to adulthood. And during our “faith walk” we experience trials that make us question who is this “God we serve? Is He real? Is He present?” And, the proverbial question: “Does He care?” In our human state we are no different than Job (Job 30:20), no different than Peter (Matthew 14:31), no different than Thomas (John 20:27), and no different than John (Matthew 11:3).
And, guess what? That list is not exhaustive. There are powerful biblical references to many strong men who doubted Jesus. This is why, despite our circumstances we should stay grounded and rooted in the Bible—studying it so it becomes such a strong part of who we are—that when we doubt, which is a natural event, we lessen and remove doubt when we put our faith to work.
Faith is like a muscle—it must be developed and strengthened (2 Hebrews 10:38 says to live by faith); faith is complete with Jesus (Hebrews 12:2 says Jesus leads us and makes our faith complete); if we don’t exercise faith, it will die (James 2:17 says faith without works is dead).
And, even if you don’t believe, God is still faithful.
Imagine what could happen, inside of you, if you chose to believe.
