I saw this quote “I pray that I always err on the side of impossible” and got excited. I was excited because it meant that it really isn’t about me, alone. I can do all things when I trust and rely on God as my strength. Seeing this quote humbled and strengthened me simultaneously because I knew without God I couldn’t do it—but with Him, well that changes everything.
See, God doesn’t want us to rest on our own laurels. He gives us talent, wisdom, and ability—so yes we must use it (faith without works is dead (Jam 2:17)), but if we could do it ALL (save ourselves, Matt 16:25; heal ourselves, Is 53:5; find peace, John 14:27) then why would we really need God, a savior (Jesus, Is 9:6)? Yet, His love for us doesn’t leave us where we are. His love carries us through and wants us to excel and have an abundant life (John 10:10).
And, the only confidence that is lasting or effective, is understanding that with God there are no limits to possibilities. Having faith strengthens our belief in seeing the impossibilities set before us. So in our human frailties, let’s err on the side that causes us to soar.
“Now faith is the substance… ” -Hebrews 11:1
