Five Small Changes You Didn’t Know Could Improve Your Productivity

Whether you’re in the midst of exam season or building a successful business from home, there is one hurdle that faces us all. Productivity. It doesn’t seem to matter how much coffee we drink or how many lists we make, sometimes motivation can be lacking. You don’t need a complete life overhaul to be more productive; however, we’ve put together five tiny, weeny changes that can improve your productivity.

  1. Fresh Air
Most of the time we’re trying to be productive in a pretty stuffy environment. It makes our brains unhappy when we’re not soaking up the sun and fresh air. If you want to give yourself a giant productivity boost, get outside. Take five minutes out of your day to explore the garden, take a walk around the block, or even take the dog for a stroll. Your brain and body will thank you for it, we promise.
  1. Organized Space, Organized Mind
Take a look around you, right now. Yep, right this second. What do you see around you? If it’s empty coffee cups, a pile of paperwork and lots of other clutter then you’re in trouble. It may sound like a cliche, but having an organized space can ensure you keep an organized mind. At the end of every day make sure you declutter your workspace, throw away any trash and give everything a wipe down. When you start working or revising the next morning you’ll feel instantly more productive.
  1. Brighten Your Space
Along with your workspace organized, it can also help if you’re working somewhere enjoyable. Not everyone can afford to deck out a home office or study, we get that. With this in mind, look for some cost effective ways to brighten your space. Go to www.printfinders.com and buy yourself some new artwork, or head over to Walmart and grab yourself some new stationery. Whatever you need to feel happier and more productive.
  1. Stop Drinking Coffee
Wait, wait, before you run away screaming, hear us out! Although you may get a quick energy boost from your first cup of coffee in the day, it could be making you less productive. How many times have you drunk a cup of coffee and then got distracted by doing everything but what you’re supposed to be doing? Also, you’re bound to get a caffeine lull in the afternoon, which will make you even less productive. Try sticking to water, fruit juice and some super healthy green matcha tea instead.
  1. Take Five
Just like clearing the clutter in your workspace, sometimes you need to clear the clutter in your mind too. Take just five minutes out of your day to just sit and clear your mind. Let your thoughts and stresses come and go, before returning to whatever it is you need to do. You can use an app like Headspace to help you with this – alternatively, just give it a go yourself. It may be surprising how much more productive you feel after taking just five minutes to de-stress.
