Five Ways to Motivate Your Employees

Vision to Your Team_Chispa MagazineProductivity is an issue that many business owners are concerned about in the 21st century. While the recent technological developments have made administration and data analysis faster, we still need employees to add the human touch and interact with customers, representing our brand. If your workers lack motivation, they will be less enthusiastic about your brand, and less committed to stay. To retain and develop talent, you will need to find a way to motivate each individual in your organization. Find a few tips on how to get started.

Listen to Them
The best way to find out what makes your employees happy and content is asking them. Take the guesswork out of your human resources strategy, and ask your workers directly. You might want to sit down with staff representatives or send out a short survey asking all employees what new features and facilities they would like to see at the workplace.

Empower Them
It is also crucial that you give them something to achieve. Your employees might have career goals or aspirations, and you can help them become better workers and provide more value for you as an employer. Whether you would like to set up your own internal company training or pay for their college courses, they will appreciate your commitment, and reward your company with increased loyalty.

Career Progression Plans
If you want to keep talent close to hand and make your employees more productive at the same time, you might want to develop your own career progression plans with your employees’ needs in mind. Consider that every individual has different circumstances and goals, interests, so it is best to sit down with every employee individually, so you can find out how you can align their interest with your company’s.

Awards and Rewards
A good way of recognizing effort, exceptional performance and productivity is to reward your employees and arrange award ceremonies. If you show your appreciation publicly and give your best employees plaques for their hard work to display on their desk, they will remember that they can do well and you appreciate the effort they make to support your business. You might want to hold short monthly or quarterly award ceremonies recognizing their commitment.

Let Them Set Their Own Targets and Rewards
To make sure that you get it right, you might want to allow your employees to set their own targets during your appraisal meetings and choose their rewards. Not everyone might be interested in a free gym membership or a restaurant voucher, so you can give them reward options and they can choose the ones they believe are more relevant to them. This way, you can personalize your reward schemes with individuals in mind.

If you would like to take your employee motivation to the next level, you have to take a personal approach. Listen to their needs, let them choose their own targets and rewards, and take into consideration their career and personal development aspirations, so you can align their interest with your business goals.
