Ginger Miller: Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, CEO, White House Champion of Change + Friend.
What have you overcome? “I have overcome homelessness. Like many of my brother and sister veterans, my husband and I did not transition well out of the military in the early 90s and became homeless. It was one of the worst feelings in my life. Going from serving your country with extreme pride and honor to becoming homeless; it was something I thought would never happen to me.
My endurance has grown in the process of my tests by first and foremost increasing my faith. Faith definitely helps me to endure whatever comes my way in a day. I’ve learned that no matter what happens in life to remain in a grateful mode for all things. When I was homeless my focus was on getting out of the situation rather than focusing on the issue itself and feeling sorry for myself or being angry at the world. I would think, if I can make it out this situation then I can do anything I put my mind to. I have learned to endure in any situation even in the worst of times and it is the same endurance that allows me to run my nonprofit Women Veterans Interactive which is no easy feat in a world filled with more no’s than yes’s.”
The Bible says, “… when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” How has your endurance grown with the process of your tests and how do you operate in the now looking onward? “My endurance has grown in the process of my tests by first and foremost increasing my faith. Faith definitely helps me to endure whatever comes my way in a day. I’ve learned that no matter what happens is life to remain in a grateful mode for all things. When I was homeless my focus was on getting out of the situation rather than focusing on the issue itself and feeling sorry for myself or being angry at the world.
