Alison Feliciano: Mother, Widow, CEO, Speaker, Author, Credit + Debt Coach, Sister, Friend, Worship Leader, Prayer Warrior.

What have you overcome? Since the age of eight, death has been a part of my life. I lost my mother at eight in April of 1978 and every year or two after that someone in my life passed away. It started with my mother, then an aunt and uncle. My birth father at 13 and more uncles. Then within five years all my grandparents passed away. My dad that raised me died in 96 and in 98 my mom that raised me passed (20 years and 5 days apart from my mother). Later that year I lost a child to a miscarriage at five months.

I then seemed to get a little break. Other losses happened intermittently. Another form of loss I encountered was a divorce in Sept 2003. (My ex-husband is married to my ex-best friend now). I did; however, meet the love my life while really not looking for love. Marcus and I built two companies together while building an incredible life together. Our companies were doing extremely well and then the recession came. We lost everything we had, our 6000 square foot home, our cars, our companies… everything. We relocated to Florida to rebuild our lives. From 2008 to 2012 we both dealt with craziness with our ex-spouses. They both tried to get custody of our children by building a stack of lies against us. We had the chance to move to the Atlanta area and it was an amazing opportunity.

We have progressively re-built our lives and God has been very good to us and so very faithful. Sadly in May of this year my beloved husband Marcus passed away suddenly. This loss has had a profound impact of my life. Marcus was my husband, lover, and my very best friend. I had to make the decision whether to stay in the Mayoral race in Powder Springs, GA. He called me Mayor everyday; I decided to still run. It has been challenging, but I am still standing.

The Bible says, “… when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” How has your endurance grown with the process of your tests and how do you operate in the now looking onward? I stand on the scripture Romans 8:28. “We know all things work together for the good, for them that love the Lord and called according to His purpose.” I believe, strongly that when each of us were spoken into this earth we came with a purpose. So, I stand on God’s promises daily and know that He has a purpose for me. I was told by my Pastor and Mentor Anthony Murray that the reason I have gone through all that I have endured is because God can trust me with this testimony… I am honored with such trust.
