When you first get started in your career, it’s not always easy to feel as if you’ve chosen the right job—or even the right industry for that matter. As with many things in life, you may even find that you’ve got a bit of FOMO— fear of missing out, that is.
If you always feel that teeny bit jealous when your friends talk about their jobs, or wish you’d studied something different at school just to land a cooler job like your favorite TV characters have, you may be constantly questioning your decisions. Because we all know we wish we’d studied law when we watch Harvey and Mike bossing it in Suits! But, you have to remember, that is’ not really real! And your friends may not be all that keen on their jobs anyway.
But just in case, you may want to iron out a few of those niggles!
Training
Let’s talk about training. Because you worked hard to get to where you are, you don’t necessarily want to question it all to go back to school and spend a whole bunch of others years retraining, do you?
Work Environment
Then, there’s the work environment to consider too. You’ve probably gotten used to your work life by now. So would you really be all that happy to trade it for something new, just to find out the culture completely sucked?
Money
And finally, it all can come down to money too. Because a certain career might sound cool, but what if it doesn’t pay all that well? If you’re doing okay, stick to your day job. Just to reassure you, check out what those cool characters probably would be getting paid in real life…
