Six Simple Ways To Add Luxury To Your Home

Six Simple Ways To Add Luxury To Your Home_Chispa Magazine
Everyone deserves a little luxury in their own home. After all, it’s the place you want to relax and unwind after a long day. Unfortunately, we don’t have access to luxury mansions and five-star hotels, all the time.

Instead, we need to find small tricks that will help bring the luxury to us. Over the years, we’ve come up with a number of small ways to add luxury to our homes. They’re small and simple, but then, the best ideas always are. Intrigued? Let’s take a look.

  1. Brand new kitchenware: If you can’t eat at a Michelin star restaurant, you can at least pretend. It’s time to upgrade that mismatched cutlery and crockery and make a change. We like the Charingworth cutlery range; tasteful but elegant. Match it with some new plates, bowls and glasses too. Your evening meal just got a whole lot more luxurious.
  2. Replace door knobs and fittings: You might not think that such a small change would make any difference. Well, just try it and see. Most homes are complete with simple, functional door knobs and fittings. They are typically unattractive and no different to the house next door! Remove them and replace them with individual alternatives. Find something with character and charm to add personality to your home.
  3. Lamps, candles, and lighting: Interior designers can do wonders with lighting, and so can you. Learn how to layer your lighting to create the perfect ambiance in every room. Avoid harsh overhead lights and opt instead for dimmer switches with a softer glow. Add candles and lamps around the living room and bedrooms. In the kitchen, employ task lighting to reduce bright overheads.
  4. Bookshelves: Books instantly add a touch of class and elegance to any room. With a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, you’ll instantly create a warm and luxury feel. If you need to get your hands on more books to fill it, visit your local flea market. You’re bound to find some old classics and maybe even some unique pieces of furniture to match the bookshelf.
  5. Large mirrors: It’s an interior design trick as old as time: Mirrors immediately open up the flow in a room. They make a small room feel larger and give a sense of space. Large mirrors will help you open up dark corridors and entranceways too. For a real improvement, try hanging one opposite the window. It will reflect natural light around the room and open up the space immeasurably.
  6. Big fluffy linens: For that final touch of luxury, you need to replicate a spa experience. You can do that with giant, fluffy towels, dressing gowns and linens. Treat yourself to a high thread count bedding and comfortable mattress. A thick duvet will mark the final touches and turn your plain bedroom into a luxury hotel suite. Remember, this is your little corner of luxury, so treat yourself.
