Simple Steps For Improving Your Home

Smart Design Tips For Diminishing Clutter-Chispa MagazineThere is a famous saying, a gentleman’s home is his castle. It is the place you go to unwind after a hard day at work. It is a place for family, socializing with friends, or just chilling out on your own. Above all, it should be a place for comfort. Whatever your budget, there are some simple ways to make your home an attractive place to live. Here are a few ideas to get you started…

Art
You don’t have to invest in anything too grandeur or expensive. We all have different tastes, after all. Buy something you will enjoy looking at, be it an abstract painting or a watercolor. Ensure you hang it at eye level as you don’t want to be straining your neck to look at it. For style, it is also good to buy a piece of art that matches the style and coloring of your room.

Why not display precious memories with framed photographs, too, or perhaps a work of your own if you are a budding artist.

Consider buying a sculpture. They come in all shapes and sizes, in a variety of textures from metal to stone.  Whether it’s a piece of pop art or something surreal, it will bring a new sense of character to your living space.

Color
The right color scheme will improve the atmosphere of a room. For example, you may not choose to use blue in your bedroom as it can be quite a cold color, but it is perfect in the bathroom for that coastal feel.

It is important to consider the color of your furnishing and carpets too, as mixing colors can make your living space feel messy and disorganized. For that perfect feng shui try having colors that go well together, for example, orange and brown will give off a cosy autumnal feel.

Lighting
Lighting creates the ambiance in a room and provides an extra layer of comfort. The perfect placing of windows will provide natural light, french windows or skylights for example. An overhanging chandelier will add elegance to your living space while an illuminated ceiling can be an exciting way to cover the entire surface. A dimmer switch in the living room is particularly handy, with full light when socializing or a low light when you are relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine and a good film, perfect after a hard day at work.

Curb appeal
While you will be spending a lot of time indoors, it is important to make the exterior look good as well. For example, you could hire specialist concreters to pave the way to your front door with a path or driveway.

You could also give your front door a blast of color, a bright red for example, to offset the whiteness of the walls. Maybe attach light fixtures to the front door or pathway to illuminate the way as you arrive home at night to give you an extra feeling of welcome.

Whatever you do for your home, whether it’s for your enjoyment, or to make a good impression on visitors, making it look good is pleasing for everyone.
