Five Simple Ways To Restore Youthful Skin

Beauty-Chispa MagazineMost people tend not to worry about aging until they notice it in the mirror. Smile lines, crow’s feet and fine lines are among the typical signs of skin-aging and they could appear as early as your 30th birthday. But there’s no need to wait for the lines to appear before you think about your skincare routine. Dermatologist Diane C. Madfes, spokesperson for the American Academy of Dermatology explains, “the good news is that it’s never too late to respond to what you see”.

So whether you want to prevent the signs of skin aging or turn back the clock, here are five tips for youthful, radiant skin:

No. 1: Take a closer look at your diet. The skin is the body’s largest organ so it’s no wonder your diet has a direct effect on how you age. A balance of Omega 3 and 6 work to protect the top layer of skin which thins as you age, causing dry skin. Olive oil, flaxseed, and fish (particularly salmon) are natural and accessible sources.

No. 2: Establish a morning/night routine that works for you. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of life and neglect your skin. Yet it is exposed to chemicals in the air that breaks down collagen, so removing all makeup and washing your face before you go to bed is an absolute must. After washing, always use a gentle moisturizer.

No. 3: Water, Water, Water! We know that up to 60 percent of the human body is made up of water so it should come as no surprise that drinking lots of water is vital for healthy skin. As well as aiding the circulation of nutrients in your body, drinking enough water can improve the texture and color of your skin as it builds new cells. Aim to drink at least 1.5 to 2 liters a day for clearer, healthier skin.

No. 4: Support your skincare routine with a good supplement. Taking a vitamin supplement can support your skincare routine by acting as a healthy response to signs associated with aging. Vitamin supplements can also help in preserving muscle mass and regulating glucose and energy levels.

No. 5: Step into the shade. Dermatologists agree that one of the top factors of premature skin-aging is UV exposure. Sun causes a loss of collagen by damaging elastin, causing discoloration and drooping. Use a sunblock (of at least 30) and spread evenly across your face and neck. If you exercise outside, taking your session to the early morning or late afternoon can also make a difference.

You can’t stop your skin from aging but you can certainly slow down the process. With a healthy diet rich in omega fats, plenty of water, a skincare routine, protection from the sun and a good vitamin supplement, you’ll be on your way to having youthful, fresher skin.
