With the onset of the wedding
season, you are probably invited to one. However, if you do not know what to
wear, it will dampen your excitement. We all know how difficult it is to dress
for a wedding. Ladies have tons of options, but men can find it hard to find a
stylish outfit. No need to worry we got you covered. We will make sure you look
perfect for any wedding.
Before we dive into what an appropriate wedding outfit entails, let us take a look at the general men’s fashion do’s and don’ts for wedding guests. When attending a wedding, you want to look elegant and classy. However, you should be careful not to overdress. You don’t want to look better than the groom so definitely tone it down a bit. Therefore, don’t stray from the dress code or wear white, a color that is only reserved for the marrying couple. Consider the location of the wedding when picking out an outfit, for instance if it is a beach wedding, your shoes should be comfortable for the beach and you could even wear something more on the casual side. Seek clarification if the couple doesn’t include information of the appropriate dress code on the invitation.
Still not sure what you should wear to a wedding? Here are a few outfit ideas based the kind of ceremony you will be attending.
Semi-formal to Casual
If you are attending a semi-formal
wedding like on a beach or in the country, you could pull off suit separates
with a tie. You could also wear a blazer and accessorise your look with a lapel
pin or any jewellery that highlights your style. A casual wedding gives you the
freedom to wear any colour you want, but that doesn’t mean you show up in a
t-shirt and sneakers. A perfect casual wedding outfit is a pair of jeans and a
suit jacket. However, it is important to choose high-end jeans for a more classy
and put together look, a
great example are Balmain jeans for men, that can be found also
online on stores like Luisaviaroma. These kinds of jeans are great for a
ceremony as they are elegant and sophisticated.
Formal to Black-tie
When attending a black-tie wedding, you have much less freedom in terms of what you can wear. You can only wear a tuxedo or a suit and the best thing to do is to stick to dark classic colours, like black, dark grey and navy blu. Complete the look with a collared dress shirt and leather shoes but if you want, you can also wear loafers. If you really want to add your personal touch and stand out form the crowd, pick a shirt with a different colour or a unique pattern. However, never show up in a white ivory jacket or any outfit reserved for the groom.
Getting the perfect look is not easy but the most important rule of thumb to keep in mind is quite simple: choose a modern and stylish outfit without overdressing. Also, always remember that what matters the most is that you wear something you feel good in.
