When there comes a certain time in your career, you might start to wonder whether you can afford to expand your empire and move across the world to somewhere new. There will always come a time when you can expand your business and it can be a wonderful opportunity for you to branch out into new areas and make a name for yourself internationally. Here are some top tips for moving your business around the world this year and making a new office.
Make a solid plan. Before you think about moving your office or creating a new one in a new place, you need to make sure to have a solid plan of action to follow. It can be useful to hire someone as a project manager for this and they will be able to start coming up with a list of essential jobs, an itinerary and a deadline to stick to. It is only once you have a plan like this that you can move without issues.
Be prepared. Make sure that you are prepared well in advance of moving day and that you have also made concessions for your employees to either help you move the business or to work from home for a week or so whilst you get things set up at the new location. It can be a huge impact on the business if you are out of action for several days and this is why you should be prepared and either work way ahead or make sure that your employees can carry on working as you move things.
Pack it up. Packing up an office or packing up times for a new office can be a mammoth task. You will need to pack up all of the furniture that you need, any logos and banners you have made for the office and any stock you keep with you in the warehouse. Packing up can take weeks depending on the scale of the operation so make sure that you know exactly what you are doing and always pack up the least important items first, leaving things like your computer until the last day to minimize time away from working.
Transporting your goods. If you are transporting your goods yourself across to a new location, you might end up coming across some issues as you travel. Settling in. Settling into a new office or opening up a new place can be a task in itself as you and your workers get used to the new surroundings and try to find a working schedule and order which suits them. Give it a week or so for people to move desks and settle in a comfortable space and you can then encourage this new start as a new opportunity for your business to grow.
