The Incredible Rise Of The Mompreneur

How To Build A Home Befitting The Modern Mompreneur-Chispa MagazineThere is no surprise that not many new moms want to go back to the office straight after giving birth. But for many, they are forced back to work because of the extortionate costs of childcare. Thankfully, though, some moms have come up with a great solution—become a mompreneur!

So, what exactly is a mompreneur? Well, it’s just a mom who works from home while looking after the kids. This gives the family the chance to save on childcare while the mom can still earn some money. There are two main options for becoming a mompreneur: you can set up your own business and operate it from home, or you might prefer to simply work for a company remotely.

Thinking of giving life as a mompreneur a go? Here are some great tips that will help you turn it into a success.

Turn Your Passion Into Money
When you begin considering working from home, you will no doubt wonder what kind of work you could do. This will especially be the case if you are unable to find a remote position with a company. If this is the case, you will have to start looking for new business ideas. So, why not turn your passion and hobby into money? For instance, there are lots of people who enjoy arts and crafts who now sell their creations on Etsy. Women who have always enjoyed writing will find it very easy to become a freelance writer. So, it’s a good idea to sit down and carefully think about all your hobbies—which ones do you think you can monetize?

Remove Any Distractions
Okay, so this might be quite hard to do completely if you have a newborn baby to look after! But most women find that they work best during their child’s naptime when they don’t have to do much playing and feeding. Your baby won’t nap for too long, though, so it is important you are as efficient as possible during this time. And that means removing other distractions from your workspace. If you have a home office, be sure to remove any TVs or tablet devices that could attract your attention. If you procrastinate, there is no way you will ever get anything done!

Get A Good Support System
You’re not Wonder Woman (no matter how much you would like to be) and that means that you will definitely need support at some point or another. So, it’s a good idea to have close relatives and friends on hand who can help you out with last minute childcare whenever you need it. For instance, you might be working to a deadline one day, but your poor baby is ill. There is no way you can concentrate on both of these issues so you will need to call someone to see if they can look after the baby! It’s also a good idea to get some professional support as well. Hiring an accountant is very useful indeed, as they can help keep your finances on track while you focus on childcare and making more money!

Stick It Out
Hardly any businesses are a success overnight, so you shouldn’t expect yours to be. It will take time for you to build your business up but don’t lose heart—you certainly will get there is have enough time and dedication to pour into it. You just need to stay positive. You should also expect to run into some slight road bumps as you start the journey as a new mompreneur. But, as I’ve already mentioned, staying positive and working hard will help you to forge ahead and turn your career into a fantastic success.

Get Young Kids To Help
What we see as boring work, kids might see as fun! So, if your kids are old enough, you might want to get them to help you out around your home office. For example, why not get your kids to put all your letters into envelopes and seal them for you? This may seem like a very small job, but they will feel like they have been given a whole load of responsibility! And it is one less thing you need to find the time for!

Being a working mom at home with the kids isn’t always going to be easy. But becoming a mompreneur is one way you might be able to make it work for you and your family. And, you never know, you might find that it becomes a financial success as well!
