Tips For Keeping A Happy Relationship When He’s In The Army

Army Wives_Chispa MagazineMaintaining a healthy and happy relationship when your boyfriend or husband works for the military is not the easiest thing in the world. You won’t get to see them a lot of the time, and so the bond between you needs to be strong. After speaking with some military wives during the last few weeks, we’ve come up with some tips that could help you to succeed. At the end of the day, your partner is doing something amazing to protect their friends and family. They should not be penalized for being a soldier. So long as you follow each of the tips on this page, the chances of you staying together through the rough times should increase. When all’s said and done, things are going to be harder if children are involved.

Communicate as Often as Possible
If your partner is stationed at a military base in the US, there is no reason you can’t get in touch with them most days. They should provide you with a telephone number you can call once their work is over. Presuming your partner is serving overseas, things can get a little more complicated. The Army and other military organizations should give you an address to which you can send letters. While your partner might not get them for a few weeks, sending one each day will make you feel closer to them. It will also put a smile on their face when the mail finally arrives.

Spend Time Together When Yhey are on Leave
Getting your relationship back on the track from the moment they get some leave is essential. As soon as you hear they are coming home, you should book a table at your favorite restaurant and plan a night out. You will have so much to talk about that the evening should be very special. You should also look toward planning any major life changes to occur during the time they are not at work. Maybe you would like to change career or something similar? You will find the process much easier if your partner is around to support you.

Move to a Specialist Military Community
There are lots of specialist communities in the US that contain military apartments. Consider moving to one such settlement if you partner plans to stay in the Army for the foreseeable future. The benefits of living in one of those areas are endless. First of all, you will get lots of support from people in a similar position when your partner is not at home. Secondly, it is one of the cheapest ways to get a nice home in your situation. Just search online to find communities of that nature in your state. There should be at least a couple you can visit to get a feel for how they work.

When all is said and done, keeping your relationship interesting when your partner is in the armed forces is going to require a lot of work. However, you will have no trouble sorting things out if you love your husband and support his choice of employment.
