Here’s What You Should Do Before You Sell Your Home

Are you looking at selling your home in the near future? If so, this guide is here to help make sure you get it right the first time. Doing the things on this list will help you sell your home not only for a great price but quickly and efficiently as well.

Here are three things that should be at the top of your to-do list when it comes to selling your property.

Declutter

One of the first things you should do when it comes to selling your property is declutter. This is because potential buyers don’t want to come to look around your home and find your stuff cluttering up the place. They need to be able to envision their own stuff filling all the nooks, crannies and storage spaces within your home.

A great tip for decluttering is to go room to room and sort your stuff into three different piles. The first pile should consist of the items you want to keep, the second should be the stuff you want to throw away, and last but not least the third pile should be items you want to sell. Selling your belongings will not only get rid of them but will make you some extra cash at the same time.

Thoroughly Clean

Once you have decluttered it is time to deep clean your property. Nobody wants to move into a dirty home so you should ensure it is sparkling top to bottom. Pay close attention to the areas that are commonly missed during the weekly cleans. These areas include baseboards, oven hoods, and extractor fans. You need to make sure that all dust, dirt, and debris has been eradicated. If you have pets you should also ensure all pet hair and dander has gone too. You never know if the people moving into your home are allergic to either of these things.

If you are not feeling confident enough or simply don’t have the time to do the cleaning yourself then call in the professionals to help. There are many cleaning companies out there that can help you thoroughly clean your home. It will look brand new when they are finished with it.

Repair

Now is the perfect time to work through that to-do list of repairs. Potential buyers do not often want to move into a fixer-upper home. If they notice any huge repairs that need doing then they may pull out of the sale. When someone wants to buy your house they will send out a surveyor to check the quality of your home. If anything major crops up this could definitely lose you a sale.

Areas to check beforehand include the roof, ceiling, walls, and floors. If you notice anything then repair it straight away. The damage may have been caused by a leak or pests within your home. If you think it may be pests then call in a local pest control company to help you get rid of the problem.
