Curb Appeal: Four Ideas for Those First Eight Seconds

They say it takes eight seconds for someone to decide whether they want to buy a property. When we are preparing to sell our home, there are so many different things that we can do to make sure that our property gives off an excellent first impression. You may think that a renovation is in order but you don’t need to go overboard to make sure your property gives off the right impression. Even simple maintenance and tidying can have a massive impact on viewers. Curb appeal is one of those things that needs exuding from every corner of the home. Before a potential buyer goes into the home, they will have very likely made a decision. What are the things we can do to boost our home’s curb appeal simply and cheaply?

A Touch-Up and a Clean

A very basic thing. Whatever the materials of the exterior wall, giving them a little touch-up can reinvigorate the exterior of your property. If you are looking to change the exterior of your property without spending much money, cleaning is a very simple option. There is nothing quite like having clean gutters and walls free of dirt. You might be quite surprised how dirty your gutters and walls are. If you live in an area that is prone to a lot of rain, you can invest in a jet washer and give the walls a facelift!

Fix Up the Front Garden

A front garden will make the house look like it is cared for. From the perspective of a buyer when they look at the exterior, this will communicate to them that the inside is just as tidy! The great thing about fixing up the front garden is that it doesn’t take much effort. Just trimming the edges and getting rid of any weeds can be done in the space of an afternoon and will improve its charm instantly. This is part and parcel of general upkeep. However, if you want to go a bit further, you may want to consider landscaping.

Fix the Fences

It will only take a weekend to fix any damaged hinges or fences. You have to remember that if any buyer sees things looking like they are hanging off, this will immediately reduce its value. Adding a lick of paint to the fences and fixing any little aesthetic issues indicates that the exterior is well looked after. This is the most important thing that we’ve got to aim towards.

Fix Up Your Front Door

The first thing they will see is the front door, and improving this is very simple. You can refinish a wooden front door and add a fresh coat of paint to inject more character and color. But if you want to make a big impression and you have the budget, installing a new front door is the way to go.

Making a big impact right away is crucial. Curb appeal is all about making sure that the front of the property looks well maintained so people will think the interior is the same. But if your interior leaves a lot to be desired, you need to fix this up as well.
