4 Ways to Freshen Up Your Garden

Gardening-Chispa Magazine

A well-maintained garden is one that you are happy to relax in. It can also be a great space for entertaining friends and family. If you are lucky enough to have a garden that is big enough to accommodate a grill and plenty of seating, it might very well be the perfect place for a grill-out when the weather is nice.

That being said, a garden that is overgrown and unkept isn’t one that you will likely want to be showing off any time soon. The rainier, colder months of the year can wreak havoc on even the nicest of gardens if you don’t take precautions to look after it.

If you are looking to tidy and freshen up your garden, here are four simple fixes that you can do.

1. Define the Space

If your garden is portioned off with an older fence that is looking a bit worse for the wear, you might not necessarily be in a financial position to replace the entire thing. Thankfully, smaller repairs shouldn’t break the bank. Moreover, you can use other means to define the space in a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing way. By using garden screening plants, you can define your space with some fresh greenery that will instantly brighten and freshen up your outdoor space.

2. Rent a Power Washer

Since your goal is to freshen up your garden, one of the best things you can do is take measures to clean the hard surfaces in it. By renting a power washer, you can give new life to any decking or patio slabs that you have in your garden. You can also use a power washer to brighten up your fence panels. Depending on what sort of siding your house has, you might also be able to give the exterior of your home a thorough cleaning with a power washer so that your entire outdoor space can look brighter and fresher.

3. Add a Pop of Color

Nothing freshens up a space, whether inside or outside of your home, quite like adding a pop of color. One obvious solution here since is to add some plants that produce colorful blooms like snapdragons or lavender. If you don’t exactly have a green thumb, there are other ways of adding color to your outdoor space that work just as well. You can purchase an outdoor rug for your patio that is weatherproof and colorful or even some throw pillows for your seating area.

4. Get new Furniture

If you have been using the same outdoor furniture for years now, then chances are it is a looking a little drab and worn. Another simple way to freshen up your garden is to replace that old furniture with a new set. A new outdoor furniture set will look much brighter and fresher on your patio, and it will also most likely be more comfortable as well. Make sure that you get enough seating to accommodate all of the people who will want to come and see your fresh, new garden.
