Tips For A Planet-Saving Beauty Routine

You might not put a lot of thought into saving the planet when you’re readying yourself for a night out or giving yourself a spot of beauty therapy when you’re relaxing at home. However, think of the planet you must, because some of the products you are using could contain those chemicals that are harmful to the earth’s atmosphere, and the products you have bought could be less than ethical.

So, here are some suggestions that we hope you find useful. You will still have the opportunity to maintain your beauty routine, but you won’t be hurting the planet in the process.

No. 1: Limit the products you use. The more beauty products you buy, the more waste you will create, especially when some of your items run past their sell-by dates. Buy the bare minimum then, those things that you know you are going to use, such as a moisturizer, cleanser, and toner, and only stock up when you know you are going to run out.

No. 2: Use natural products. If you’re going to buy something for your beauty routine, always go for something organic. These natural products contain no harmful chemicals and are better not only for the environment but for your skin too. Cosmopolitan recently listed these organic skincare products on their site, so have a look and choose those items that you think you might use.

Of course, you might not have to buy very many beauty products at all. It’s possible to make your own at home, using the ingredients you probably have in your pantry to create moisturizers, body lotions, makeup removers, and other items you use in your beauty routine. There are loads of DIY beauty products here, so read up about each one, and then use your spare time to make your own. You might even want to sell a few online or give them as gifts to your family or friends.

No. 3: Avoid certain beauty brands. There’s another reason why you should make your own beauty products, and that is because many of the branded products available today have been tested on animals. This is a cruel practice and must be stopped, and you can make a stand by boycotting beauty brands that are unethical. Follow the link to find out which brands to avoid.

If you don’t want to create your own products, you should research those brands that are cruelty-free. After a Google search online, we discovered this vegan and cruelty-free makeup, so have a look and then commit to further research.

No. 4: Use recyclable products. When buying makeup brushes, hairbrushes, and packaged beauty products, look for those brands that sell recyclable and sustainable items. After all, buying a hairbrush that has been made from a sustainable material like bamboo is little different from buying a hairbrush that has been made with something less eco-friendly, so there will be no negative effect on your beauty. Shop around, using sites such as Ecotools when buying your brushes.

Stay beautiful and save the world: It is possible! Use our ideas and do your bit to protect the planet in your beauty routine.
