Sure Fire Steps To A Happier You

Feel Better About Yourself-Chispa Magazine

Have you found yourself feeling a little down recently? We all have those days, but when those days turn into those weeks, or those months, this is a sign of a problem. If this is the case for you, you need to be taking some steps to make yourself a little happier. There are some things that you can do that don’t require much from you, just the willingness to try anything to boost your mood. In this article, we are going to talk about some of the steps that you can take, and by the end, you should have a whole host of things to try.

Sleep More
A bad sleeping pattern is one of the top causes of a bad mood. If you are not getting enough sleep, your body is not getting enough time to help you reset from the day you have had, and as a result, you are not going to be feeling great. To combat this, you need to be getting at least seven hours of sleep per night. This is the recommended amount of sleep that the average adult is going to need. Children and the elderly need more as their bodies need more time to complete the processes, but for you, you should be aiming for around seven or eight hours.

If you do this, you will notice that you are feeling better almost instantly. You might think that this is impossible and that sleep is something you have never had an easy time with. Even if this is the case, there are things you can do to give yourself a better chance at sleep. For example, you can remove all tech devices from your room at night, and this should be a good start. Also, make sure that you are only using your bedroom for sleeping, and not for activities throughout the day. This way, your body sends your brain the signal that says once you get into bed, this is time for sleep.

Eat Better
The next thing that you can try is to improve your diet. This is another top cause of a bad mood, and if you look at your diet, you might be able to see why. If you are only, or mainly eating processed foods, your body is not going to be getting all the vitamins and nutrients that it needs to keep your body working. As such, your skin is going to start looking dull, your eyes are going to look tired, and you are going to feel all around miserable.

All it takes is keeping your diet well balanced to avoid this issue. Try adding some vegetables to each of your meals at first before you cut out the bad foods. Obviously, getting rid of the processed foods and only having these on occasion is going to be the best way forward, but this is not always possible in the beginning. So, try adding a salad to one of your meals, and then work on cutting out more of the processed food, and replacing it with nutrient-rich alternatives. You are going to notice a marked improvement after a couple of days, and you might not believe us now, but you are never going to want to go back to your old diet after you do things this way for a while.

Higher Education
You should also consider going back to education. We aren’t talking about heading back to high school, instead we are talking about college-level education. Obviously college is not for everyone, so we are not suggesting that you enroll in a college if you don’t want to, but you can also take courses online. For example, you could think about signing up for Michigan Tech’s online civil engineering degree if this is something that interests you. There are many course options available to you that don’t require you to put your life on hold to complete.

The idea here is that you are giving yourself something to work towards again. When you have a goal, you want to reach it and branching yourself out to learning something new is a great way to do this.

Get Into Exercise
Exercise releases endorphins and this is one of the chemicals in your brain that is responsible for making you happy. Exercise isn’t for everyone, but it is something that everyone should be taking part in. Don’t forget, walking is exercise, so even if it is a 30-minute walk to the park per day, or a few times a week, this is going to go a long way to improving your mood. You might not believe us, but we aren’t lying. Exercise is one of the best natural mood boosters according to many scientists, as well as the people who exercise every day of the week.

You do need to be careful though because you might not think it, but exercise can become an addiction. Make sure that you are only completing a healthy amount that is not straining your body, or putting it in danger. A personal trainer will be able to help you here, so if you feel like you are struggling with over-exercising, or if you need some help on what exercises you should be completing, you should think about hiring a professional.

Cut Out The Negativity
Or, you could also try cutting out everything negative in your life. If something is not bringing positivity to you, then it needs to go. Having positive things around you is important to how you are feeling, and that is why it is so important to surround yourself with nothing but positivity. It can be hard to identify negative presences in your life, but if you look hard enough, you will be able to do it. One of the things that you should start looking at immediately is people. People are one of the most negative presences that you can have in your life, even if you have known them for years. You need to only have people who are bringing something positive to your life, and be strong enough to cut off those who aren’t.

Be Kind
Finally, you should always be kind. When you are kind to others, you are more likely to be kind to yourself. If you are not nice to yourself, you are not going to be feeling very good. This might sound a little silly to some of you, and you might be wondering how you can not be nice to yourself. It’s quite easy really, you can feed yourself bad food with the reason of well there’s no point in giving myself good food because I don’t look good anyway. You can deprive yourself of sleep, of happiness and all kinds of things like this. If you do this, you are going to be feeling sad a lot. So, like we said, try being nice to strangers, and this could help you be nice to yourself. Kindness doesn’t cost a thing, and it is easy to do.

You have to give these things time, you might not see results overnight, and you need to be willing to stick with them for a period of time. All of these combined is going to make you feel great, but starting with one or two in the beginning is the best thing to try. We hope that soon enough, you are going to be on your way to feeling like the happiest version of yourself.
