Why You Need to Reduce Stress, NOW

Why You Need to Reduce Stress, NOW-Chispa MagazineWhile many people report stressful situations at home, much of the stress that impacts our lives is work-related. In fact, there are so many causes for stress on the job that the American Psychological Association reports that it is imperative to reduce job-related stress immediately or there could be significant issues with your physical and mental wellbeing. The longer we allow stress to manifest in our daily lives, the harder it becomes to get it in check. Here are some of the ways in which you can combat the amount of stress you are subjected to.

Job-Related Stress
In their report, the American Psychological Association states that much of the stress workers feel is directly related to the amount of work they are given and a worker’s inability to meet deadlines and other responsibilities. Some workers feel they are unfairly treated by their superiors and others take on more than they can realistically handle because they hope to ‘earn’ a better job up the corporate ladder.

Some Simple Solutions
One of the easiest solutions is to learn to say no. Although you may think taking on more than you could ever hope to accomplish will put you in the good graces of your supervisor, it may actually end up working against you if you can’t complete the work you’ve taken on in a timely fashion. Instead, it is suggested that you actually spend time working to improve yourself in some way. One way to advance your career would be to further your education. Why not study at night towards an online MBA degree. With that graduate degree in your corner, you can win the battle against a dead-end job. If you can’t rise to a new rank within your current place of employment that degree will open doors you never thought about before.

Advantages of Reducing Stress
Taking that masters in business administration online should help you begin to understand your own net value. Prestigious schools such as Northeastern University offer online MBA programs that you can complete at your own pace. From cardiovascular disease, nervous breakdowns or the onset of such things as diabetes, stress can be the trigger activating the illness. The problem is that most people don’t understand that continued levels of stress can even cause high cholesterol, as well high blood pressure. The advantage of reducing stress now is primarily concerned with the long-term effects inordinate amounts of stress subject you to.

There are times when you can simply walk away from a stressful situation. When you are at work and logged in, you can’t just get up and walk outside for a breath of fresh air. Wouldn’t it be far better just to find ways to reduce stress if your coping mechanisms are limited? The long lasting effects of work-related stress can bring on illnesses such as heart attacks and other cardiovascular illnesses. Get control of stress NOW or suffer the consequences later. Either lose your stress or lose your health.
