3 Tips For Feeling More Accomplished at The End of Each Day

Have you ever found yourself making it to the end of the day, only to be greeted with a sense of general unease and guilt about how little you got done?

While life is by no means all about being productive, it’s probably fair to say that most of us don’t much like the feeling of going too many days in a row and feeling that we’ve done little that’s of intrinsic worth.

Whether by doing some basic home maintenance and investigating things like rainwater tank accessories, or by spending quality time with loved ones, or by challenging our perceived limitations and hiking up a mountain — life tends to be a lot better when we spend our time in certain ways, versus others.

Here are a few tips for feeling more accomplished at the end of each day.

Use a habit tracker and make sure to carry out a few key tasks each day.

There are likely to be a number of key tasks that — if completed each day — will help you to experience a sense of accomplishment and balance, even if the rest of your day was pretty unremarkable.

Using a habit tracker app to track these core activities and to ensure that you stay on top of them can be very rewarding, and can help to significantly reduce how often you make it to the end of a given day and feel guilty about how you’ve spent your time.

Depending on your particular values and interests, those “key tasks” could range from completing a workout, to working on a painting, to spending time with your partner.

Do a daily reflection exercise each evening before bed to see where you rose to the occasion, and where you fell short.

If you feel unaccomplished, frustrated and guilty when you reach the end of a given day, it’s a very good idea to look within yourself to understand why you are feeling that way.

Doing a “daily reflection exercise” each night before going to sleep can be very helpful here.

Start by remembering, in detail, what you did throughout the day from the moment you woke up to the current moment you find yourself in. Then ask yourself some questions. What did you do that was good? What did you do that was bad? What would you do differently tomorrow?

Then, after gaining some insight, commit to actually trying to do better tomorrow in the ways you identified.

Have a sense of direction and hone your priorities.

If you have no idea what you want to achieve, or what kind of person you want to be, or even what sort of direction you want to head in, it’s very unlikely that you’re going to consistently feel accomplished at the end of each day.

Spend some time figuring out the kind of direction you want to head in, in life. Identify and hone your priorities as they currently stand. They may well change in the future, but for now it’s important to have some sense of direction.

Figuring out your priorities in this way can grant a lot of clarity about the kinds of things you should do each day to consistently enjoy a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
