Fashions by Hamdan: Always One Step Ahead

Alex Hamdan_ChispaMagazine
After years designing for private clients in Miami and New York, Alex Hamdan launched her line in 2008. Her signature style of confident, sexy femininity is evident in all her designs. With a fashion degree from the International University of Arts and a degree in business administration and marketing from Florida international university Hamdan, Dominican born, is ready to boom her business.

Living within the vibrant culture of Miami, Hamdan grabs a hold of its influences with the use of fine fabrics and materials, which keeps her clientele interested and growing. Many things guide the designs of Alex Hamdan, but her love of arts and travels around the world sets her apart.

When someone views your spring 2015 collection, how would you like for them to interpret Alex Hamdan the label? My label is in constant movement and every collection has a story. Spring 2015 is all about the ocean and strength of nature mixed with the softness of femininity. Some of the pieces are my interpretation of the shining, almost blinding reflection of the sun on the water at the hottest time of the day. The message is always the same; beautiful pieces of exquisite fabrics and intricate patterns. I would like them to feel the passion and the beauty that surrounds them.

If you could add an audio recording to your fabrics, what would they say? I have arrived! Each fabric has its own personality and mood that adapts to that of the person wearing it. For my line, I carefully choose fabrics that not only look great but feel great.

When you state vanguardism on your site; how do you interpret this? Striving to lead and set trends instead of following them. It’s that thirst of becoming better every day, not only as a designer but as a person. Vanguardism to me is being one step ahead, not of others but of my own ideas.
