Accessories You Need For The Perfect Yacht Party

If you’re blessed in your life, somebody might one day invite you to a yacht party. These experiences are like nothing else you’ve encountered in your life. You’re all at sea—literally—cresting along the top of the waves.

Strangely, though, what you wear to a yacht party matters. Pleasure craft owners don’t usually allow any old riff-raff to show up. There’s a certain etiquette you need to abide by.

So what should you and your significant other wear to a yacht party if somebody invites you to one?

Wear Loose Clothing
On land, the trend in recent years has been towards looser and looser clothing. But on the water, it’s the opposite. Women tend to wear loose, brightly-colored dresses, perhaps with a sarong if you’re planning on taking a plunge in the sea.

If it’s a little chilly on the boat, then you might be able to wear a jacket or a light kimono on the top. But be careful: as we already said, hosts can be very picky about what people wear while they’re getting sozzled.

For men, it’s a little simpler. Smart-casual should do the trick. However, because you’re out at sea, you have a little more leeway to play around with interesting colors. Men can wear loafers, chinos, and unbuttoned shirts. You can also wear cufflinks, though this might come off as a little formal in hot weather. Oh – and shades are a must.

Accessorize
When it comes to accessories, the world is your oyster.

For bracelets, you want to stack ‘em high. Dress-wearing women should aim to cover as much of their forearms as possible with various gold bangles. Remember, the goal of yacht parties is to appear as opulent, yet as relaxed, as possible. And gold bands serve this purpose perfectly.

If you’re looking for a slightly less expensive and more boho option, you can go with leather cuffs. Again, you’ll want to wear two or three of these and make sure that they match your dress.

For men, Rolex Dive watches are essential. Yacht party hosts not only associate this type of watch with the sea, but men can continue wearing them when going for a quick plunge in the water.

Lastly, you’ll want to consider shades. Try, if you can to wear sunglasses with a summery tint, like pink, yellow or turquoise. Men should stick with classical colors, such as tan, blue, and grey.

Express Yourself
When it comes to shoes and other items of clothing, it’s really your personal choice. Standing up in ultra high-heels might be a little bit of a challenge on a boat rocking on the waves, so pumps are also totally acceptable. You might also want to slip on an attractive pair of sandals if you own any

Some yacht parties have the women going barefoot, so this is always an option if you’re in a bind.

For men, the style is usually quite formal. However, if you’re planning on going in the water at any point, then you’ll want shoes that you can slip off in a hurry.
